CHANGE TO APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

Our previous appointment system has been in place for well in excess of ten years. Due to patient demand, we have moved to a controlled open access system every day between 8.30am and 12.30pm.

The aim of this new system is to allow patient to be seen sooner, which in turn leads to the GP to refer, carry out tests and arrange further treatment when necessary. Appointments are available with our Duty Doctors every morning.

These appointments are not only for urgent issues, any patient can make and appointment to be seen the same morning. There is no longer a requirement for patients to be triaged into same day appointments in the morning, the receptionist will offer the first available appointment with one of our Duty Doctors.

Although these appointments are not with a named Doctor, following this consultation, if it is agreed that you should be seen again, the Doctor will book an appointment with themselves, or, if you prefer to choose a Doctor, the Doctor will book this prior to you leaving the consulting room. This will aid continuity of care which, being a large busy Practice, has been a huge issue for patients in the past.

Between 12.30pm and 6.00pm our Duty Doctor team are available to triage calls, offering advice or appointments as necessary if you require to be seen on the day. We also offer appointments every afternoon with our GPs which can be booked in advance.

The system has only been in place for a few weeks and is still being evaluated by the Practice.
