Owing to the evolving Corona Virus situation Inverurie Medical Group has taken pro-active steps to minimise the risks to our patients and staff. We will be utilising telephone consultations to assess and advise the majority of patients. We would appreciate your assistance in preventing the possible spread of infection by not attending the Health Centre unless instructed by a clinician, having had a telephone consultation first.
Those with pre-booked appointments will be contacted to discuss whether these need to be face-to-face consultations or whether alternative arrangements can be made.
Given the anticipated demand on healthcare services over the next few weeks we are reducing our non-urgent and private services. We a looking to reduce your need to come to the Health Centre by sending all prescriptions directly to your chosen Chemist.
We appreciate that a common way of accessing our book-on-the-day appointments has been attending the Health Centre, either first thing in the morning or throughout the day, but we would strongly advise patients not to do this. Appointments will no longer be available to be booked in this way. This is to reduce the risk of spreading infection and to allow us to maximise the use of our clinical resources.
Remember if you can’t make it – PLEASE cancel your appointment.
We offer same day appointments every morning between 8.30am and 12.30pm. These appointments are open for booking every morning from 8am. The number of appointments bookable depend on GP availability that day. When calling for an appointment, the receptionist will offer you the next available appointment with one of our Duty Doctors. We also offer phone backs for patients requiring general advice, or advice regarding medication. Book on day appointments are also available in Rhynie surgery.
In order for our receptionist to direct your appointment to the appropriate healthcare professional, they will ask for a brief indication of the problem when booking your appointment.
It is not possible to request a specific Doctor for a same day appointment. If however you require to see a male or female GP, we will do our best to fulfil your request.
Between 12.30pm and 6.00pm our Duty Doctor Team are available to triage calls, offering advice or appointments as necessary.
Should you require an appointment with a specific GP, we will offer you the next routine appointment with the Doctor of your choice, which will be in our afternoon surgeries. If you require to see a specific Doctor, please be aware that there will be a wait for the next available appointment. There are some routine appointments available at Rhynie surgery in the mornings.
All GP appointments are booked at ten minute intervals. In order for our Doctors to deal appropriately with your problem, and keep their clinics running to time, we ask that patients limit their ten minute appointment to one problem.
Appointments with a Doctor can be made up to six weeks in advance.
We do not operate a "walk-In" service - If you require an appointment on the day please contact the health centre by telephone.
Telephone Consultations are phone appointments that can be booked in advance.
At the time of booking a phone appointment you will be asked to give the telephone number you wish to be contacted on. The GP will ring you at the allotted time. These will be phone appointments ONLY; the GP will not see you during these times.
Please be aware that when the GP calls you back, this will appear on your phone as a withheld number.
Urgent Advice: Urgent advice should still be sought through our duty doctor system.
We offer a limited number of pre-bookable early morning and late evening appointments for patients who find it difficult to attend during the working day. See our surgery opening times for further information.
If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment. Chaperones are available at routine or same day appointments only, not during extended hours.
If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
